Volleyball Recap: Newcomerstown Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Newcomerstown unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Indian Valley Braves on Tuesday. The Trojans have struggled against the Braves recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

While Newcomerstown was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Indian Valley's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-7, 25-17, 25-19.

Diane Raber paced Newcomerstown's offense, picking up seven kills. Raber got some help from Maggie Collins and her 16 assists.

Gionna Miles was a one-woman wrecking crew For Indian Valley. as she had 20 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Miles has posted since back in September of 2024.

Indian Valley has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Newcomerstown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Ridgewood on the 21st. As for Indian Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Malvern on the 21st.
