Softball Recap: Alexander Takes a Loss

Alexander was the 10-9 winner over Zapata when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Alexander Bulldogs fell just short of the Zapata Hawks by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday.

Kendra Mancha and Carmen Perez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mancha went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Perez scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, Mancha posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jazmine Rodriguez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Alexander's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Zapata, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Alexander didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-1 defeat against Clemens on the 20th. Zapata has also already played their next game (against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
