Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Loris

With a playoff win on the line, Loris rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Fox Creek Predators 12-2. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Bellamie Gore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Loris got a massive performance out of Caitie Black, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Black has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Spence, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Loris kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Loris, bringing their record up to 14-11-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fox Creek, they moved to 20-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Loris and Fox Creek will both be playing Waccamaw the next time they take the field. The Predators will host the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Lions will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
