Recap: Los Alamos Hilltoppers vs. Penasco Panthers
The Los Alamos Hilltoppers won the last time they faced the Penasco Panthers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Los Alamos enjoyed a cozy 60-42 victory over Penasco. With that win, Los Alamos brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Los Alamos was led to victory by Gerrianna Romero and GG Romero. Romero scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Romero scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Romero hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Sofia Trujillo, who scored eight points.
Los Alamos has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Penasco, they bumped their record down to 8-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Los Alamos will face off against Rio Rancho at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Rancho presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Los Alamos in New Mexico (Rio Rancho is ranked tenth, while Los Alamos is ranked 43rd). As for Penasco, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pecos at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
