Recap: Lourdes Academy vs. North Miami Pioneers
Lourdes Academy came tearing into Tuesday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against North Miami by a score of 60-50. Given Lourdes Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while North Miami is ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lourdes Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Sandoval, who scored 30 points along with nine steals. Luciana Picasso was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Despite the loss, North Miami still got an impressive performance from Jadore Hayes, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hayes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shaina Garvy, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Lourdes Academy's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. As for North Miami, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
Lourdes Academy and Northwestern will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Northwestern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Saturday. As for North Miami, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Miami Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Miami Beach's defense has only allowed 26.1 points per game this season, so North Miami's offense will have their work cut out for them.
