Baseball Recap: McCluer North Gets the Win

McCluer North was handed a seven-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley Bulldogs. The Stars haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Daron Phillips was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Joseph Kane was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

McCluer North's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley, their loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4.

Looking ahead, McCluer North will host Jennings at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley, they will venture away from home to square off against Riverview Gardens at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
