Volleyball Recap: Herrin Comes Up Short

Herrin lost against Okawville back in September of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Tigers fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 2-1.

Shaniya Johnson paced Herrin's offense, picking up seven kills. Johnson were helped by Harley Summers and Emery Skaggs, who contributed nine assists each. Finally, Johnson was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Herrin has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-22 record this season. As for Okawville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-11 record this season.

Herrin will be playing in front of their home fans against DuQuoin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Okawville, they will venture away from home to face off against New Athens at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
