Crest Ridge triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Kayley Marten

Recap: Crest Ridge Cougars vs. Wellington-Napoleon Tigers

Even though the Crest Ridge Cougars have not done well against the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Crest Ridge narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Wellington-Napoleon 37-34. Crest Ridge didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Kayley Marten was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Savanna Bramwell was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Wellington-Napoleon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Charelsie Lamphier, who scored 15 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Lamphier scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brilynn Zykan, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Crest Ridge's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Crest Ridge will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Orrick at 4:30 p.m. Orrick is coming into the contest with three straight losses on the road, meaning Crest Ridge will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they will take on Concordia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wellington-Napoleon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Monday.
