Softball Recap: Lake City Wins High-Profile Match Against Coeur D'alene

Lake City faced Coeur d'Alene in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Timberwolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Vikings. Surprisingly, this marked the Timberwolves' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Madeline Peterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Karsyn DeMent, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Lake City pushed their record up to 14-6-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Coeur d'Alene, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1.
