Basketball Recap: Jake Schutt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Servite over Hesperia

Servite was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-49 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hesperia Scorpions.

Servite's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Schutt, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds. With that strong performance, Schutt is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Taiulu Allen, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points.

Servite's record now sits at 11-5. As for Hesperia, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Servite will square off against Mater Dei at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mater Dei is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 74.4 points per game this season. As for Hesperia, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Serrano at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
