Softball Game Preview: Spring Creek Spartans vs. Elko Indians

The Spring Creek Spartans will head out to square off against the Elko Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Spring Creek hasn't scored more than two runs for six games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Spring Creek and Fernley, and Fernley kept the tradition alive. The Spartans lost 8-1 to the Vaqueros on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Elko came up short against Churchill County on Friday and fell 12-7. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by exactly five runs.

Hayden Post was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanessa Romero, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Spring Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Elko, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Spring Creek couldn't quite get it done against Elko in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 as they fell 10-5. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
