Basketball Recap: Austin's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Austin waltzed into their match on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They secured a 46-41 W over the North Harrison Cougars. The win almost wasn't to be: the Eagles were down 36-19 in the second quarter.

Brynn Owens was her usual excellent self, putting up 22 points and eight rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last 21 times she's played.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grace Goldman, who went 5 of 12 en route to 12 points and eight boards. That's the most rebounds Goldman has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lydia Wilkins, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Austin's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.8 points. As for North Harrison, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Austin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-41 loss against Silver Creek on the 18th. North Harrison has also already played their next contest, a 50-35 win against West Washington on the 18th.
