Basketball Recap: Pleasant Home's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was fun while it lasted, but Pleasant Home's undefeated season came to an end after nine games on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to the Straughn Tigers. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Pleasant Home still got an impressive performance from John Luke Colvin, who went 7 of 15 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dillan Purifoy, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Pleasant Home smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Straughn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Clark Jordan, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Jordan's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Driver, who posted 14 points along with seven assists and five boards.

Pleasant Home's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-1. As for Straughn, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.

Pleasant Home will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on W.S. Neal at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Straughn, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-32 win against Wicksburg on the 20th.
