Football Recap: Independence Wildcats vs. Booneville Blue Devils
Independence and Booneville squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Independence had to settle for second. They lost 33-10 to the Blue Devils. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Tony Ogden had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 153 yards and two TDs while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also catching one touchdown for Booneville. Those 153 rushing yards gave Ogden a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Sandlin, who threw for 159 yards and three TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes.
Independence's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Booneville, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-5.
Independence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Booneville, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 58-39 defeat against Aberdeen on the 14th.
