Volleyball Recap: Aquinas Comes Up Short

Aquinas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Raymond Central Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Monarchs of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-17, 25-14.

Sarah Coufal paced Aquinas' offense, picking up 13 kills. Coufal got some help from Taylor Smith and her 20 assists. Smith was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Raymond Central found their leader in sophomore Julia Schultz, who had 19 digs and five aces. Those five aces set a new season-high mark for Schultz. Vailey Masek also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.

Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 3-25. As for Raymond Central, they pushed their record up to 15-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Aquinas has already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Twin River on the 27th. As for Raymond Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Conestoga on the 23rd.
