Soccer Game Preview: Hickory vs. Lightridge

The Hickory Hawks will face off against the Lightridge Lightning at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Hickory is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Menchville. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Hickory were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Lightridge came tearing into Tuesday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Eagles. Two seems to be a good number for Lightridge as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Hickory's record now sits at 17-1-3. As for Lightridge, their record is now 19-1-1.

Hickory came up short against Lightridge in their previous meeting back in June of 2025, falling 2-0. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
