Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Maple River

After losing to Jackson County Central the last time they met, Maple River decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Maple River Eagles strolled past the Jackson County Central Huskies with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 78-64. The win was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Huskies are ranked 28th).

Maple River is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-15 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.1 points over those games. As for Jackson County Central, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-5.
