Basketball Recap: Vanguard Academy Rembrandt Comes Up Short

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt saw some tournament action on Thursday. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raymondville Bearkats. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Raymondville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joshua Tamez, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. That's the most points Tamez has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Slevin Gutierrez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Raymondville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-45 defeat against Miller on the 12th. As for Raymondville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-48 loss against Port Isabel on the 12th.
