Marist has gone a perfect 3-0 against Evergreen Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The RedHawks will head out to square off against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
On Wednesday, Marist got the win against Marian Catholic by a conclusive 8-2. The victory continues a trend for the RedHawks in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won eight in a row.

Evan Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other pitching news, Marist got a great performance from Collin Lawlor as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Lawlor has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Marist let Joey Gumuls and Carter Pass run wild. Gumuls went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double, while Pass went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Pass has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was John McAuliffe, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Evergreen Park). They blew past Hillcrest 20-1 on Thursday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.
Noah Munoz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Munoz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, Carlos Flores was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Billy Duffner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Evergreen Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Evergreen Park is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Marist, their record is now 17-11.
Everything went Marist's way against Evergreen Park in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Marist made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the RedHawks repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
