Baseball Recap: Lyons Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sodus, Lyons was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Finney Falcons 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since May 14, 2025.

Brayden Kitchen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Austin Rice, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lyons is undefeated when Rice posts two or more runs, but 1-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jacob Bookmiller, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Lyons' win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Finney, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Coming up, Lyons will challenge East Rochester at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Finney, they will face off against Wilson Magnet/Early College International at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
