Basketball Recap: Piner Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Piner came tearing into Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Elsie Allen Lobos 62-42. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 59-28 on January 15th.

Leading Piner to victory were Apollo Pereira and Brendan Walker. Pereira posted 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, while Walker dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. Walker is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 19 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Coester, who had eight points and six boards.

Piner is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Elsie Allen, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-15.
