Soccer Game Preview: Monterey vs. Upperman

The Monterey Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Upperman Bees at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Monterey is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to eight goals last Thursday, they were much more limited against Smith County on Thursday. They fell just short of the Owls by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Upperman came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 4-1 win. Upperman might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by three goals or more this season.

Upperman's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Monterey, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-5.

Monterey beat Upperman by a goal in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 2-1. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bees turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
