Football Recap: Savannah Country Day Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Thursday just wasn't the day for Savannah Country Day's offense. They took a blow against the Athens Academy Spartans on Thursday, falling 28-0. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 35-0 to the Spartans when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Thomas Holland threw for 58 yards on five of nine attempts. Gabe Bosch was his top target, picking up 42 receiving yards.

Keyon Standifer had an outrageously good game for Athens Academy as he picked up 148 receiving yards and one TD. Standifer showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 57 yards. Another player making a difference was Chap Chapman, who threw for 181 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes.

Savannah Country Day's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Athens Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Savannah Country Day will host Porter-Gaud at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Athens Academy, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Shaw at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th.
