Baseball Recap: Salmon Comes Up Short

Salmon extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-8-1 in the process. They lost 17-7 to the Challis Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-2 loss on April 1st.

Dane Piippo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Salmon is 2-1 when Piippo posts two or more runs, but 2-7-1 otherwise.

As for Challis, their win bumped their record up to 12-7-1. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

On Challis' side, Garrison Applegate was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Marlen Mitchell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Salmon nor Challis have any future games scheduled.
