If Central East wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Clovis, they should've done a better job of containing Gabe Surla. The Cougars blew past the Bengals 3-0 last Thursday with plenty of help from Surla, who had seven digs and three aces. He is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 17 games he's played.
Clovis not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Central East between 15 and 18 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-15, 25-18.
Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Sanger had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Clovis North on Thursday.
