Recap: Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders vs. Northside Christian Mustangs
The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders waltzed into their match on Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They snuck past Northside Christian with a 32-27 win. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Clearwater Central Catholic has scored all year.
Clearwater Central Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Bedinghaus, who scored seven points along with 16 rebounds and five assists. Bedinghaus hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Benoit, who scored 13 points.
Despite the loss, Northside Christian still got an impressive performance from Rilee Knight, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Sydney White, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Clearwater Central Catholic's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. As for Northside Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Clearwater Central Catholic will head out on the road to challenge Sunlake at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Sunlake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Clearwater Central Catholic is ranked 105th). As for Northside Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Indian Rocks Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
