Softball Recap: Fenwick Has No Trouble Against Resurrection

Fenwick came out on top against Resurrection on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Friars put the hurt on the Bandits with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Friars, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Sofia Kateeb made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Bella Bigham and Ayanna Bourn did most of the damage at the plate: Bigham went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Bourn went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Bourn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Leonardi, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Fenwick hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Fenwick moved to 13-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Resurrection, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15-1.

Looking ahead, Fenwick will square off against Taft at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Friars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Resurrection, they will challenge Niles North at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bandits' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
