Baseball Recap: Willow Spring Comes Up Short

Willow Spring was the 3-2 winner over Fuquay - Varina when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Storm fell just short of the Bengals by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Storm have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Luke Doreauk was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Willow Spring saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Fletcher, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Joshua Anderson II also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Willow Spring now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Fuquay - Varina, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Willow Spring has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Cleveland on the 30th. Hopefully Fuquay - Varina paid attention to the Storm's game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
