Homefires falls despite strong effort from Colin Chesnut

The Homefires Flames pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Illinois Central Christian. Homefires was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Illinois Central Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Homefires still got an impressive performance from Colin Chesnut, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. That was a full 47.3% of Homefires' points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Reagan Rademacher was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Homefires has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Illinois Central Christian, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Varsity Opponent the next time they take the court. Illinois Central Christian will host Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Homefires will host them at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
