League recap: Jones throws longest pass in league this season for Romeoville

Southwest Prairie recap October 8, 2013

Fans got a thrill when Kelvin Jones and Charles Hunter connected against Plainfield North. The connection was good for 84 yards, the longest such play in Southwest Prairie this season.

The Tigers moved up to 202 from 229 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Plainfield North was able to move up by beating Romeoville 31-19.

Tyler Walsh was a force in the backfield as Oswego topped Plainfield East.

Hunter had a great week catching the football as the Spartans lost to Tim Kane's team. He caught 12 passes for 254 yards.

Jacob Czerniakowski threw for 418 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 23-32 with 1 interception.

Jeffrey Klank made the biggest impact on defense this week as Minooka lost to Plainfield South. The 6-foot-3 junior recorded 1 fumble.

Hunter was the best wideout in the league this week as Romeoville lost to the Tigers. Hunter tallied 12 receptions for 254 yards.

On the heels of Steven Frank and Walsh, the Panthers have had great success on offense. Frank leads the league in passing with 1,206 yards, while Walsh has rushed for 699 yards this season. Jeff Kuna's team's Hunter leads the league in receiving yards with 612 on 31 catches.

As it stands, the Bengals are in second, while the Spartans are in fifth.

The Cougars were the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from third to first in Southwest Prairie. Plainfield South vanquished the Indians 41-37 earlier in the week.
