Basketball Recap: Camelback Comes Up Short

Camelback was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Williams Field Black Hawks, falling 85-20. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while the Black Hawks are ranked 26th).

Camelback's loss came despite strong showings from Deja Francisco and Kyliana Massey. Francisco posted six points and 12 rebounds, while Massey had seven points. That was a full 35% of Camelback's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Williams Field found their leader in freshman Addison Rameriez, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rameriez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Carnes, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists.

Camelback's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Williams Field, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Camelback will head out on the road to face off against Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Camelback is facing Arcadia at the right time seeing as Arcadia is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Williams Field, they will host Chandler at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both have allowed few points on average, (Williams Field: 28, Chandler: 25) so any points scored will be well earned.
