Volleyball Recap: Mara Gonzalez and Macey Ascherman Secure Win for CORE Butte + How To Watch

CORE Butte hadn't done well against Maxwell recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lynx walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Panthers. For the Lynx, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17.

CORE Butte was led to victory by Macey Ascherman and Mara Gonzalez. Ascherman had three digs, three blocks, and two aces, while Gonzalez had 14 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Gonzalez a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: CORE Butte was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for CORE Butte and bumps their season record up to 6-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 6-10 Oroville and 8-10 Maxwell. As for Maxwell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

CORE Butte wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Oroville on the 11th. As for Maxwell, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Live Oak on the 11th.
