Soccer Game Preview: Clear Lake vs. Clear Creek

Clear Lake and Clear Creek are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but likely not for long. The Clear Lake Falcons will face off against the Clear Creek Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clear Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.

Clear Creek will be up against a hot Clear Lake team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Clear Lake came out on top in a nail-biter against Deer Park on Friday, sneaking past 2-1. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Deer are ranked 195th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eli Toliver and Asher Gaworecki scored both of Clear Lake's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clear Creek). They put the hurt on Clear Brook with a sharp 5-2 win on Friday. With the Wildcats ahead 4-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Clear Lake is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-2 record this season. As for Clear Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

Everything went Clear Lake's way against Clear Creek in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Clear Lake made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clear Lake since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
