Volleyball Game Preview: Lockport Porters vs. Hinsdale Central Red Devils

The Lockport Porters will face off against the Hinsdale Central Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lockport will be strutting in after a victory while Hinsdale Central will be coming in after a loss.

Lockport took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They won by a set and slipped past Bradley-Bourbonnais 2-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Porters as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

In the two sets Lockport was on fire: they won each by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-13, 25-12.

Meanwhile, Hinsdale Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Downers Grove North.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Hinsdale Central sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 22-25, 25-17.

Lockport's victory bumped their record up to 14-16. As for Hinsdale Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-22.

Lockport was able to grind out a solid win over Hinsdale Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Porters since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
