Baseball Game Preview: Anderson County Bulldogs vs. Iola Mustangs

The Anderson County Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Iola Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Anderson County sitting on four straight wins and Iola on eight.

While Anderson County's victory against Southern Coffey County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Titans 5-3.

Brayden Wheat was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2. Aiden Steele was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Iola got the win against Santa Fe Trail on Friday by a conclusive 16-6. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Anderson County's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Iola, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Anderson County couldn't quite get it done against Iola when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
