Softball Recap: Stagg Chargers vs. Lincoln-Way Central Knights
Stagg extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-16 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the Lincoln-Way Central Knights, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Chargers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
As for Lincoln-Way Central, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 19-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
For Lincoln-Way Central's part, Brooke Seppi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Seppi has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayla Doerre, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
