Soccer Game Preview: Willowbrook vs. West Chicago

The Willowbrook Warriors will take on the West Chicago Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

West Chicago will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Willowbrook extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Warriors who were credited with the win. Willowbrook got it done in the shootout by posting one goals to Addison Trail's zero. The victory was all the more spectacular given Willowbrook's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Addison Trail are ranked 105th).

West Chicago's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Bartlett 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but West Chicago were the better team in the second half.

Willowbrook's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-11-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matchups. As for West Chicago, the win got them back to even at 6-6-6.
