Softball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Independence's offense. They fell just short of the Centennial Golden Hawks by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Falcons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Independence saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angelina Diaz, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Centennial, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Independence will face off against Coalinga at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Horned Toads will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Centennial, they will take on Lompoc at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Golden Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
