Basketball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Takes a Loss

Sunrise Mountain lost against Chaparral two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sunrise Mountain Miners fell 76-64 to the Chaparral Cowboys. The Miners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Qualib Ghallab was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 13 boards for Chaparral. Ghallab is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 39 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayshawn Armstead, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds.

Sunrise Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Chaparral, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Sunrise Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-20 loss against Somerset Academy Losee on the 28th. As for Chaparral, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-28 defeat against Las Vegas on the 28th.
