Baseball Recap: Mccrory Snaps 15-Game Streak of Wins at Home

McCrory dropped their record down to 10-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 4-0 to the Palestine-Wheatley Patriots. The match marked the first time this season in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

As for Palestine-Wheatley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games.

For Palestine-Wheatley's part, Jacob Hickman made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Hickman has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Brody Parker was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCrory will take on Quitman at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palestine-Wheatley, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Clarendon at 4:30 p.m.
