Baseball Recap: Stanwood Beats Port Angeles for Their Ninth Straight Win

Stanwood put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Port Angeles Roughriders by a score of 6-1.

Gavin Gehrman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Gehrman wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Skyler McLain, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Another was Corban Forslund, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Stanwood's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Port Angeles, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanwood will challenge Jackson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 0.9, the Timberwolves 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Port Angeles, they will head out to challenge Sequim at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
