Softball Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

If Lakewood was riding high fresh off their 21-0 takedown of Cabrillo on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lancers lost 17-6 to the Downey Vikings on Friday. The Lancers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 11-12. As for Downey, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-9.

Lakewood didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-4 defeat against Long Beach Poly on the 6th. As for Downey, they have also already played their next matchup, an 11-0 victory against Lynwood on the 5th.
