Skyview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell to the Emmett Huskies 48-44. One positive for the Hawks, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Emmett's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sammy Howe led the charge by rushing for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also picking up 58 receiving yards and a touchdown. Howe really tore up the turf during one magnificent 83-yard run. Ryder Scheibe was another key passer, throwing for 258 yards and five touchdowns on only 18 passes.
Skyview's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Emmett, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyview will venture away from home to face off against Nampa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nampa's defense has only allowed 16.8 points per game this season, so Skyview's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Emmett, they will face off against Vallivue at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Emmett's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
