Baseball Game Preview: Oostburg Flying Dutchmen vs. Cedar Grove-Belgium Rockets

Oostburg and Cedar Grove-Belgium are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Flying Dutchmen will head out to take on the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Grove-Belgium took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Oostburg, who comes in off a win.

Oostburg will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Friday, then bounced right back against Sheboygan Area Lutheran on Thursday. The Flying Dutchmen blew past the Crusaders 10-4. The Flying Dutchmen haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Grady Kaesermann, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Garret Rauwerdink, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Cedar Grove-Belgium came up short against Whitefish Bay on Saturday and fell 6-2. The loss was the Rockets' first of the season.

Cedar Grove-Belgium saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Schmitz, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was Schmitz's first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cedar Grove-Belgium fell to 3-1. As for Oostburg, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Oostburg suffered a grim 13-7 defeat to Cedar Grove-Belgium in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Flying Dutchmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
