Basketball Recap: Southside Comes Up Short

Southside lost against Pamlico County back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Southside Seahawks fell 63-53 to the Pamlico County Hurricanes. The Seahawks were up 22-7 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Defeat or not, Southside got some senior leadership from Jeremiah Satchell and Josh Armstrong. Satchell went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points and five boards, while Armstrong posted 11 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Satchell a new career-high in shooting accuracy (67%).

This is the second loss in a row for Southside and nudges their season record down to 3-12. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 4-10 Pamlico County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.6% over those games). As for Pamlico County, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10.

Southside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-61 win against East Carteret on the 29th. As for Pamlico County, they have also already played their next matchup, a 60-43 loss against Lejeune on the 31st.
