Basketball Game Preview: Gatesville Hornets vs. China Spring Cougars

The Gatesville Hornets will head out to square off against the China Spring Cougars at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Gatesville is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

On Monday, everything came up roses for Gatesville against Troy as the team secured a 62-33 win. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, China Spring played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 61-34 loss at the hands of Hudson. The Cougars have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Gatesville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for China Spring, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Gatesville strolled past China Spring in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 50-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gatesville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
