Preview: Woodson Warriors vs. Jackson-Reed Tigers

Woodson is 0-7 against Jackson-Reed since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Woodson Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Jackson-Reed Tigers at 5:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Woodson has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Jackson-Reed will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Wednesday, Woodson was beaten by Coolidge 49-19.

Meanwhile, Jackson-Reed faced SEED DC in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Jackson-Reed put the hurt on SEED DC with a sharp 60-35 win on Friday. Jackson-Reed has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 25 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Kryslynn Stewart, who scored 12 points along with six steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Sara Mesikir, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.

Woodson's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.0 points per game. As for Jackson-Reed, their win bumped their record up to 8-5-1.
