Preview: Sunnyside Blue Devils vs. Rincon/University Rangers
The Sunnyside Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Rincon/University Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sunnyside will be looking to keep their 14-game home win streak alive.
Last Tuesday, Sunnyside didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Tucson High Magnet School, but they still walked away with a 52-46 win. Given Sunnyside's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Tucson High Magnet School is ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nayeli Nidez-Acu?a continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds. Alana Felix was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Rincon/University was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 52-46 to Marana.
Sunnyside's victory bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Rincon/University, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Sunnyside didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Rincon/University in their previous matchup last Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 47-43 victory. Will Sunnyside repeat their success, or does Rincon/University have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
