Softball Game Preview: Hernando Leopards vs. Kathleen Red Devils

The Hernando Leopards will face off against the Kathleen Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Wednesday, Hernando needed a bit of extra time to put away Dunnellon. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Tigers 10-9.

Lily Jernigan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Jernigan was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Aubrey Knierim was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Ammarae Easton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Hernando kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Kathleen can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 22-12 margin over Tenoroc. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Red Devils' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Hernando's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Kathleen, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
