Basketball Game Preview: Farmington Phoenix vs. Davis Darts

The Farmington Phoenix are taking a road trip to take on the Davis Darts at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Farmington is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Layton on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Farmington came up short against Layton, falling 79-56. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Lancers are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, Davis made easy work of Syracuse on Friday and carried off an 80-59 win. The Darts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Farmington better focus on containing Coleman Atwater and Croydon Christensen as the pair were huge in Davis' win. Atwater went 9 of 20 on his way to 24 points, while Christensen went 7 for 9 en route to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Those 16 points gave Christensen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bennett Wright, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Davis was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Syracuse only racked up ten assists.

Davis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Farmington, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Farmington didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Davis in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 62-56 victory.
